UPCOMING EVENTS 

OCTOBER 2011

Safe Space Inc. will recognized National Domestic Violence Awareness Month with special events in October.  Through out the month of October, Safe Space will be participating in and sponsoring a number of events to remember the victims and survivors of Domestic Violence in North Carolina during 2011. 

OCTOBER 3RD THROUGH THE 7TH:

APPRECIATION BASKETS:  Small baskets with tokens of appreciation will be given to community leaders, attorneys, the sheriff and police departments, DSS and others who have supported Safe Space efforts to end domestic violence.  Without the help of the community and local agencies, Safe Space Inc. would not be able to provide services to the local victims of domestic violence.

OCTOBER 7TH:

CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DAY:   The Safe Space Thrift Store  located at 304 East Nash Street will show its appreciation to it's loyal customers by providing light refreshments and special sales during this day.  Come by and celebrate with us and find some great deals.

OCTOBER 11TH:

Clothesline Project:  T-shirts are painted and designed by those who have been touched by domestic violence.  T-shirts will be on display throughout the year at awareness events.  This is held at the Louisburg Police Center.  Call 497-5599 for more information.

OCTOBER 17TH THRU 21ST

Hands are Not for Hitting" programs will take place in elementary and middle schools.  This event allows the children to make prints of their hands on a large poster and to take an oath that their hands are not for hitting and how to resolve problems without violence.  These large posters are then displayed throughout the year in the schools and community.

OCTOBER 18TH:

13th Annual Candlelight Vigil will be held at the Louisburg College's Main Building steps at 6:00 PM.  The community is invited to join the Safe Space Board of Directors, Staff and supporters in remembering victims and survivors.  The vigil will include comments and remembrances by community members and survivors of domestic violence.  Candles will be lit as the names of each victim who has died at the hands of domestic violence in North Carolina during 2011 are announced.  This is quite a moving event and everyone is invited.

October 29 2011

Grace Haven Baptist Fellowship  Church will again sponsor the 5K Rock N' Run with all proceeds to benefit Safe Space.  Race begins at 9:00 am in Franklinton, NCl and ends at the Grace Haven property.  Runner registration begins at 7:30 AM at the Grace Haven property.  Pre-registration ends on October 15th.  For more information, call 919-649-7017 or email dgraves3@nc.rr.com.
