HOW CAN YOU HELP

Safe Space Inc. is a non-profit organization and therefore relies totally upon funds from state and federal grants, the United Way, Family Violence Prevention programs, The Governors Crime Commission and the NC Council for Women.  These are avenues of monetary support that we can not depend upon from grant cycle to grant cycle.  Each year we must re-apply for all our grants and in some cases we are denied the grant for the new fiscal year or we may receive a decrease in the amounts we had previously received.  Safe Space holds several large fundraisers during the year including our Reverse Raffle held in June, our Men for Change campaign, our Motorcycle Rally in the spring and our Golf Tournament in the summer.  These have always been supported by our area organizations and our local community members.  Still the expenses of operating a 24 hour shelter with its grocery bills, utility bills and operational cost continue to rise.  Operational expenses for our court advocate, telephone hotline, support groups and providing attorney services when funds are available are a continuous balancing act.  A list of all the services we provide, free of charge are listed on our SERVICES page on this website.

 Safe Space has partnered with Pay Pal, an online banking system, as a non-profit organization.  With their services we have the capability to allow visitors to our website  make a donation to help support Safe Space Inc..  Please visit their website to read about their services and the security of their on-line banking system.  The North Carolina Coalition against Domestic Violence uses Pay-Pay services on their web site for collecting donations and it has been very successful.  If you would like to donate to Safe Space Inc. we would greatly appreciate any donation.  Any donation you make here at our website goes directly to providing services for domestic violence victims and their children. Safe Space has been verified by Pay Pal.  Pay Pal accepts major credit cards for donations and deposits these donations into the Safe Space Inc. banking account.  We receive notice through Pay Pal when there has been a donation and we reply to the donor with a confirmation email  containing information needed for tax purposes and confirm the amount of the donation we received.    If you would like to send us a donation by mail our address is Safe Space Inc. at PO Box 240, Louisburg, NC  27549.

RECYCLE CELL PHONE PROJECT:

Space Space Inc. collects used cell phones for Domestic Violence Victims to call 911 Emergency Calls and for Fundraising. A cell phone can be programmed to call 911, regardless of whether the user has purchased a service plan or not. The phone simply needs to be fully charged. 911 services are automatic on any home or business phone where previous phone services had been in place, whether there is a dial tone or not. Phones that will not charge or are not in operating order are sent to Shelter Alliance. Shelter Alliance refurbishes these phones and gives Safe Space, Inc. a monetary contribution for these unusable cell phones (visit their website at www.shelteralliance.net). The money collected by Safe Space, Inc. is used to help with a variety of needs for our victim. If you have any old cell phones, please drop them off at our office located at 113 S Main Street (497-5599) or at our Variety Shop located at 304 East Nash Street (496-7777). Your kind donation will help us keep our domestic violence victims safe.

VOLUNTEER:

Safe Space Inc. is a non-profit organization with a very limited staff. We are always looking for volunteers to help us at our Thrift Shop, providing maintenance at our Shelter, helping with special projects in our office or supporting a fundraiser by collecting donations. DONATIONS:

We accept all kinds of donations. Monetary, clothing for our shelter and re-sale store, food for our food pantry at the Shelter, carpet cleaning at the Shelter, emergency funding for clients who need assistance paying their utility bills and the list goes on.
