Show Us that Smile!! Just a few of the many volunteers, donations and activities Safe Space, Inc. has the privilege to receive or organize in it's struggle against Domestic Violence.
Presentation to Bunn High School from Safe Space Inc. of a plaque for Elvira Hernandez who was a victim of Domestic Violence in 2007. Elvira was a student at Bunn High School and was shot returning home from school by her boyfriend on May 10, 2007.
Kohl's Department Store employees working at the Safe Space Inc. Thrift Store in November 2007. Employees from Kohl's volunteer their time and talents to help our Thrift Store with sales and merchandize presentation. Kohl's also gives to the Safe Space Thrift Store a donation which is used to expand or upgrade the Thrift Store. Just one of the many dedicated and supportive community members that help Safe Space Inc. provide services to our Domestic Violence victims.
This group of high school students from Louisburg, Bunn and Franklinton High School participated in the annual Teen D.R.A.M.A (Teen Drawing Response and Minimizing Abuse) play which was presented to all 9th graders at each of the three high schools. The drama educates the teens to the dangers of teen dating violence.
A two day training was held at the Vance Granville Community College campus in Louisburg in December 2007 for Evidence Based Prosecution Training. This training involved the law enforcement community, emergency medical services, magistrates and court officials and was hosted by Safe Space Inc. This training involved the recognition and collection of evidence at a domestic violence crime scene that can be used in a court of law for prosecution.
Jim Grove, Board Chair of the Board of Directors for Safe Space Inc. was honored this year by being selected as the Greater Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year. Jim has been a great supporter and volunteer for Safe Space for many years and his dedication and hard work has helped Safe Space provide ten years of service for Franklin County and surrounding areas. We are all very proud of Jim. An Award Well Deserved!!!!
