WHAT WE ARE

The Safe Space, Inc. Variety Store is a resale thrift store created by Safe Space, Inc. Variety Store proceeds are the single largest source of funds supporting our non-profit domestic violence agency. The funds raised through the Variety Store support the costs associated with providing support and services to local victims of domestic violence and their children.

WHERE

In Louisburg, NC the Safe Space, Inc. Variety Store, accepts donations at the corner of 304 East Nash St. and Spring St. in downtown Louisburg Mondays through Friday, 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. The loading dock is on the Spring St. side of our location . Phone number is 919-496-7777. Upon receiving your donations, our staff sorts, stocks and rotates these items onto sales floor as dictated by space and need for those particular items on the floor.

WHAT WE NEED

We need your gently used household items and carefully worn clothing, shoes, and accessory items. We accept a wide range of clothing and household items. However, please follow the following important guidelines when you are deciding what items to donate to the store.

GIFTWARE/HOUSEHOLD ITEMS

Gifts are the quickest selling items in our store. Big sellers include candles, picture frames, knick-knacks, brick-a-brac, ceramic pieces, and gift sets. These items should be in good condition. We accept linens, sheets, blankets, towels, furniture, framed prints and posters, curtains, fabric and craft items. We cannot accept any linens or towel items that are stained, torn or otherwise damaged. Furniture items should be useable and sellable. We absolutely will not accept furniture items that have pet or human stains, are broken, are torn or overused, or have missing pieces. We are unable to accept used computers. By North Carolina Law, we cannot accept mattresses. We do not accept large appliances or children's toys.  We do accept small working appliances such as coffee pots, irons and hair dryers.

CLOTHING

Big sellers include baby clothing sized 12 months to 24 months, larger (plus) sized clothing for women and men, maternity clothes, designer or name branded suits, blouses, paints, jeans or accessories that are in good condition. We accept shoes that are current or "retro" in style or carefully used. All items must be clean and dry and in useable condition. We cannot accept clothing with stains or missing essential accessories (buttons). Please do not donate clothing that is stained, torn or otherwise in poor condition. We spend more money sorting these clothes and recycling them than we can earn.

ITEMS FOR SAFE SPACE CLIENTS

Safe Space, Inc. provides Variety Store stock to our clients free of charge. This assists clients who have to escape abusive situations with no extra clothing, or clients who are starting up their own household independent of the abuse. If you have specific items like computers or large appliances that cannot be accepted at the Variety Store, please call our Advocacy Office at 919-497-5599 to discuss these items for donation.
