About the Role
Position Overview:
The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of Safe Space, Inc., responsible for overall leadership, strategic planning, financial management, staff supervision, community engagement, and fundraising. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by domestic violence while shaping the organization’s growth and impact.

• Shape the organization’s culture, staff development, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership:
• Develop, oversee, and report on agency budgets, financial statements, and audits.
• Manage grants, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to funders.
• Supervise day-to-day cash management and financial operations.
Fundraising & Resource Development:
• Research, secure, and maintain grant funding.
• Supervise and support Variety Shop operations and other fundraising initiatives.
• Cultivate relationships with donors and community partners.
Board Relations:
• Collaborate with the Board Chair on agendas and reporting.
• Provide timely updates and maintain open communication with the Board and committees.
• Support strategic planning and long-range organizational goals.
Community Engagement & Advocacy:
• Serve as the public face of Safe Space, Inc., including media, presentations, and community outreach.
• Promote awareness of domestic violence, agency programs, and community resources.
• Participate in task forces, forums, and partnerships to strengthen community impact.
Staff Leadership & Development:
• Supervise and support staff, ensuring achievement of program goals.
• Foster a positive organizational culture with ongoing training and professional development.
• Maintain accurate personnel records and oversee compliance with agency policies.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Ensure agency compliance with insurance, legal, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in direct client support as needed.
• Maintain all corporate and program documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
Salary Range: $50,000-$80,000
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a human services field (Master’s preferred) or equivalent experience.
Experience in domestic violence or related human services fields highly desirable.
Proven skills in staff supervision, interpersonal communication, grant writing, and financial management.
Knowledge of non-profit fiscal management, including budgeting, audits, and financial reporting.
Experience providing direct advocacy services is a plus.
